A new 11 member team was recently established after Russia vetoed the renewal of a U.N. panel responsible for monitoring sanctions on North Korea. 

These sanctions, aimed at curbing North Korea’s banned nuclear and weapons programs, have been critical in enforcing international pressure. 

Russia’s veto challenges ongoing efforts to oversee North Korea’s compliance, raising concerns about the future effectiveness of sanctions enforcement amidst growing geopolitical divisions.

 labeling it "unlawful and illegitimate. The diplomat further warned that countries involved with the group would face a "dear price.
