The United States has expressed hope for a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said that they believe they have reached a point where a ceasefire is close.

Amid ongoing talks for a ceasefire, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that PM Netanyahu should be sentenced to death. He also stated that the case against Netanyahu for war crimes is insufficient.

There has been ongoing fighting between Israel and Lebanon for quite some time On October 7, last year, Hezbollah solidarity with Hamas and Palestinians in Gaza, attacked Israeli-controlled areas. This led to several attacks along the border between Israel and Lebanon.

Some reports suggest that heavy fighting continues between Israel and Hezbollah. On Sunday, Hezbollah launched another rocket and drone attack on Israel. Israel reported that more than 250 rockets were fired by Hezbollah.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, more than 3,700 people have been killed in the war that started on October 7 last year.
