Arab and Islamic Leaders Gather in Saudi Arabia, What is the Purpose of the Summit?
Leaders from Muslim countries outside of the Arab world have also arrived to participate in this conference being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is also in Saudi Arabia for this summit. He has said that he will raise his voice for the rights of Palestinians in this conference.

This summit in Saudi Arabia is taking place a year after a similar meeting hosted by the Arab League in Cairo and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah.
These meeting condemned the actions of the Israeli army in Gaza, describing them as barbaric. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, nearly 44,000 people have been killed in Israel's ongoing attacks over the past year, a large proportion of whom are women and children. Lebanon has also suffered significant casualties and property damage.
What message is being conveyed to Trump in the meeting?

This summit is an opportunity for regional leaders to signal to the incoming Trump administration what they expect in terms of US involvement. Through the summit, they will try to convey a message and stopping Israeli attacks in the region.
During his first term, Donald Trump strongly supported Israeli. He recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israeli and relocated the US Embassy there. Trump also supported Israeli settlements is the occupied West Bank, which are considered illegal under international law.
According to Umar Karim, a Saudi political expert at the University of Birmingham, the message of Monday's summit is that Trump can be trusted as a representative of the Muslim world through Saudi Arabia. If he wants to expand American interests in the region, Saudi Arabia is the best option for him.
