Amid efforts for a ceasefire, Israel has intensified its military campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon. As part of this , 28 people were killed in Israeli attacks on Lebanon on Saturday. The health ministry reported that 15 people died in an airstrike in central Beirut, while 13 others were killed in attacks northeast of the capital.

For the fourth time this week Lebanon's capital was attacked. According to Lebanese security officials, an eight-story building in central Beirut was targeted with four missiles. The attack used missiles designed to destroy tunnels, leaving a deep crater at the site.

Several Hezbollah sites also targeted



The Israeli Air Force also struck several Hezbollah sites in Beirut's southern suburbs. Recently, US envoy Amos Hochstein visited both Lebanon and Israel. It is worth mentioning that on October 7, 2023, Hamas launched a larger-scale attack on Israel.

An Israeli woman held hostage was killed in the attack. Hamas armed wing spokesperson, Abu Ubaida, stated that the Israeli woman, who was being held by Hamas, died in an Israeli attack. Meanwhile, Palestinian doctors reported on Saturday that 120 Palestinians were killed in Israeli military strikes on Gaza in the last 48 hours.

Israel also attacked a hospital, injuring medical staff and damaging equipment. The Israeli military said its goal is to prevent Hamas fighters from launching attacks and regrouping in the area.

Israeli woman hostage killed

Hamas'  armed wing said on Saturday that an Israeli woman taken hostage during the October 2023 attack was killed in the war zone in northern Gaza. The Israeli military stated that it is investigation the incident.

Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades spokesperson Abu Ubaida said that after several weeks, contact was re-established with the hostage-takers, confirming that the hostage was killed in an area of northern Gaza where the Israeli army was operating.

Abu Ubaida's statement did not reveal the identity of the hostage of explain how and when she was killed. The Israeli army told AFP that it is investigating the claim. Abu Ubaida also mentioned that the woman was held alongside another female hostage whose life was in danger.

Female hostages were alive in captivity



During last Year's Hamas attack, which triggered the Gaza war, the militants took 251 people hostage. Of these, 97 are still in Gaza, while 34 have been killed, according to the Israeli army. According to an AFP tally, before Abu Ubaida's statement, ten female hostages, including five soldiers, were believed to be alive in captivity.
