Sever cold is about to hit Britain. The weather department has warned of a 411-mile (661 km) long snowstorm. An alert has been issued for people in the UK. According to WX Charts, a long-range forecast from November 30 to December 9 has been released, predicting snowfall an December 7.

Digital Desk, London: A severe weather warning has been issued for large parts of the UK as a 411-mile (661 km) long snowstorm is expected to bring down temperatures just before the holiday season.


Weather maps across the country have turned orange, and alerts have been issued for travelers. According to WX Charts, a long-range forecast from November 30 to December 9 has been released, with snowfall expected on December 7. Areas like Newcastle, Cumbria, Northumberland, and part of Greater Manchester are also likely to experience snowfall.

The weather department, in its warning, said that while the weather will mostly remain dry and stable, there could be periods of unstable conditions. Low-pressure areas might pass over the UK, bringing some spells of wind and rain.

It also stated that the weather is expected to become more stable by mid-December.

Meanwhile, the Midlands, Wales, and Northern Ireland are expected to remain dry.

The weather department further said that temperatures will generally remain near average, but there is a chance of frost at night and cold conditions during the day, especially in foggy areas.

The Mirror reported that Plymouth and Southampton could see rainfall of up to 75-80 mm, while areas like London, Birmingham, and Cardiff may experience 35-40 mm of rain.

In Scotland, temperatures are likely to drop below freezing, while in England and Wales, they are expected to stay around 4-5 degrees Celsius. 

This latest weather update comes a week after widespread flooding in some parts of the UK caused by Storm Berti.
