Palestine gets India's support votes against Israel in the UN backed by 157 countries.



India voted in favor of a resolution at the United Nations General Assembly. The resolution called for Israel's withdrawal from Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem. It also reiterated the call for a just and lasting peace in West Asia The draft resolution, titled Peaceful Resolution of the Question of Palestine was presented by Senegal and adopted by an overwhelming majority in the 193-member General Assembly on Tuesday.

The resolution called for Israel to withdraw from Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem. It also reiterated, fair and lasting peace in West Asia. The draft resolution, titled Peaceful Resolution of the Question of Palestine was presented by Senegal and adopted with a large majority in the 193-member General Assembly on Tuesday.

These countries voted against the resolution.


India was among the 157 countries that voted in favor of the resolution. Meanwhile, Argentina, Hungary, Israel, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, and the United States voted against it. Cameroon, Czechia, Ecuador, Georgia, Paraguay, Ukraine, and Uruguay were absent.

Attempt to change demographics was rejected.

The resolution reiterated the call for the restoration of comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in West Asia without any delay, based on relevant United Nations resolutions. Through the resolution, the General Assembly reaffirmed its support for a two-state solution, with Israel and Palestine coexisting peacefully and securely within recognized pre-1967 borders, in line with international law It also rejected any attempts to bring about demographic or territorial changes in the Gaza Strip.

The UK abstained from voting, and a total of 13 votes were cast in favor of the resolution. The US stated that it dose not support an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Hamas criticized the US for using its veto, calling it unethical and inhumane. Meanwhile, Israeli attacks in Palestinian territories have killed 17,487 people, most of them women and children.

A total of 13 votes were cast in favor of the resolution. In opposition, there was 1 vote, the US veto. The UK abstained from voting. Hamas condemned the US action. A senior Hamas official said, Hamas condemns the US veto against the draft resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. Hamas called it unethical and inhumane. A political member of the Izzat al-Rishik group stated, The US is obstructing the ceasefire. By doing this, they are involved in killing our people and committing genocide.

The United States says it does not support the call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Robert A. Wood, the US Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, stated that such a move would be like sowing the seeds for the next war. The United States strongly supports a lasting peace where both Israel and Palestine can live in peace and security.

He mentioned that the US does not support an immediate ceasefire because Hamas has no interest in peace of a two-state solution. If Israel were to unilaterally lay down its arms, as some member countries have called for, Hamas would continue its actions.

According to the latest count by the Health Ministry run by Hamas, 17,487 people have been killed in Palestinian territories due to Israeli attacks, most of them women and children.
