The COVID-19 pandemic,  which initially began in Wuhan, China , has taken a new turn with the rapid spread of the JN variant in 2024.  The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified the JN.1 variant as a potential global threat, although it exhibits characteristics similar to the original COVID-19 virus. Current Situation in India: As of now, India has confirmed 21 cases of the JN .1 variant. Tragically, 16 people have lost their lives in the past two weeks. The rapid rise in cases has once again raised concerns across the country.  According to India's Health Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya , emergency meetings have been called to discuss the issue, and all states have been urged to enhance preparedness.
